Weekend Damage Report

P is gone again but this time only for 4 weeks and it should be the last, I miss her already. I had an awesome weekend. Super Awesome in fact. These words don't even do it justice.

But let's talk finances. I figured the weekend would be expensive but it seems I underestimated it. Thursday night, I put $100 in my gas tank, which is suppose to last me to the end of the month. I estimate that after my trek back from the airport this morning. I probably blew $75 of that already. I knew I would do much more driving this weekend than normal but this is a lot of gas to burn. I never expected the needle to drop from full to a quarter tank. I expected a half tank but not a quarter. Oh well. It was worth it.

I also bought a T-shirt for $5. We went out once over the weekend with a couple friends for a few hours, that cost $20 for the couple drinks we bought. I also bought a few sodas and snacks over the weekend along with other misc purchases. Lastly, I gave P some pocket money to take back with her.

Overall, minus the amount of money I gave to P to carry with her, this weekend cost me less than $150 with the majority being gas. It feels like a lot but it really isn't that bad, especially considering my entertainment budget is still at $0. Can't say the same for my misc budget though. That erupted like a volcano this month again.

This weekend and the month on the whole made me consider modifying my budget. I don't have a budget for gifts nor for clothing. These are two things that I don't do monthly, but because of this, when they do happen, like both did this month, I end up bunching them in the misc category. Which is one reason why my misc will probably shoot through the roof every month. Maybe I should add them. We will see at the end of the month when I do the new budget for next month, which is next week.... Wow! Time is flying.

Well I haven't been around the blogosphere since Wednesday neglecting that quick post last Thursday. Time to do some catching up. Did I miss anything big or exciting or both?

  1. Time sure is flying by. Glad you and P had fun. And I feel you. Gas has ended breaking my budget in more than one occasion, because I only plan for a normal usage of my car; ie, to and from work, to and from store. Any time I have to go elsewhere (which is always 1~2hrs away each way), my tank and budget feel it. Oh well!

  2. I think, you did pretty good! I expected a lot more damage :) I'm glad you had fun. And I agree, gas can easily break the bank. We plan our vacation next month, and it's a 6.5-7 hour drive 1 end. I'm scared to see how much we'll pay in gas for May...

  3. I spent almost $200 on gas last weekend when I went to visit my family, but it was SO worth it. The money you spent this weekend was I'm sure worth it, and a small price to pay =)

You remind me of my BF. He used to give me money when I wasn't working. He said he would add me to his account so I can use it whenever I need to. You both are keepers :)

    1. Actually, I added her to two of my accounts already :)

Our EF is a joint account and also the money market account I started saving for the wedding in.

Feels good to know we are following in good footsteps.

  4. Isn't that the worst - burning through gas quickly? Especially when it's so expensive these days! I'm glad you had fun :)

  5. I'm so happy that you had a great weekend! I laughed when reading the gas bit but not because it's funny---because my post today was all about how you can save money on gas. Check it out!

  6. I don't think that's too bad. You hardly ever get to see P so you gotta indulge a bit when you can. Enjoy your dating time because later in life you might not have so much time to have fun together.
