Net Worth - April 1st 2012 - First Quarter Review

March gave me quite a run for my money, almost literally given I participated in the debt free dash. I also worked a heck of a lot of overtime, something I want to write a post about soon. Anyways, despite the obstacles I faced with the unplanned expenses, I still managed to make a stunning month end. I almost doubled my net worth from February which is really awesome. I obviously couldn't have done it without working all the overtime and even though I don't like it, I can't complain about how I did. Let's get into the details.

Net Worth - $2127.86 ($862.36 increase, roughly $10 more than last month. SUPER!)

Assets

Liquid Cash - $3950.24 (Up roughly $500)

RRSP - $1657.62 (Registered Retirement Savings Plan. The turtle won the race)

Stock Fund - $1350 (This should have been cashed in March, waiting on the accounts department)

Credit Union Shares - $120 (Minimum requirement for membership)

Liabilities

Car Loan - $3200 (Officially into the last half)

Loan M - $1750 (I haven't started working on this yet. I owe my mom this for the down payment)

March & 1st Quarter Review

A lot of how March turned out went into the budget review that was posted yesterday so instead of repeating most of what is in that, I will highlight a few points.

• I blew budget by $282.31
• $160 of that was purely saving more than I budgeted to save
• I made $624.96 more than my expected income for the month.

So for the quarter let's see how I am doing. On the goals front, I have accomplished 3 of the 12 goals for 2012. That means I am on track, I'll detail more in my next post. The main goal to focus on in this net worth review is my goal to achieve a 12K net worth. To be on track to make this goal this year, I should have a net worth of 3K. I'm about $1000 behind on this one or in goal tracking terms, one full month behind on this goal. If I continue at the current rate which for the past two months has been roughly a $1000 increase, I will still continue to be behind. I'll have to find a way to fix this, without hoping for a windfall.

Overall, it hasn't been a bad quarter. It had it's share problems like my first budget being shot, but it was amazing. Now that it is done, it means that P will soon be finished with school and back home in time for the summer. That is one thing I am looking forward to. It's going to make an interesting go with my finances around here as well.
