My First Trip For 2012

Three days into 2012 and I've already taken my first trip. Guess where I have been? I'll give you some clues.

Guessed yet? No matter, I will tell you anyways.

I went for a trip to Barbados. Yip, my own country. I own a car now and even though it may be a money pit, it does have it's uses.

Yesterday was a bank holiday for us so P and I decided to spend part of the day driving around the island and exploring. Our trip took us to most northern part of the island and the first place we wound up was Jordan's Cowpen(no idea why it is called this or who Jordan is, need to do some history) but the very first awesome thing we saw was smoking hole. It's this deep hole in the ground that the sea has access to somehow so the waves crash in the bottom and the water sprays up forming a sort of mist that comes right to the top of the hole which looks a lot like someone smoking, hence the name. We couldn't get close enough to see the bottom so I have no idea how deep it really is.

The other cool point of interest we saw was Cherry Tree Hill(no idea how it got it's name either, but I've been to it). We also saw a lot of other cool stuff too and my crappy cell phone camera took some pretty good pictures(far from the best but acceptable).

The best part of the entire trip(after spending the day with P) was the cost. Approximately a quarter tank gas. No complaints from this PF blogger. We did end up going to the movies later in the night but that is something totally different.

The trip was totally awesome. For me, it was the equivalent to going to another country as I went to parts of my island that I have never been too. For those who have an itch for adventure I recommend doing something similar in your own country(which is far bigger than my 166 square mile island). With or without a car it is a cheap way to get some adventure and exploration.

And that beautiful lady in a couple of the pictures that you see is the same beautiful lady I mention time and time again on this blog. The lovely P.

  4. I am so jealous. There is about a foot of snow outside. We did get to go sledding though, but that water looks so amazing.

Glad to hear you got to enjoy your day together and exploring home too.

  6. @ Niki & Little Lamb - As fun as snow looks I doubt I would ever survive it. I don't think I have ever endured anything lower than 10 degrees C and if I did it was a miracle. I get cold so easily. If you ever saw the movie Cool Runnings with the Jamaican bobsled team. That is me in their first snow scene.

    @ Carla - Hmmmm??? You've got me thinking :)

  7. P is really cute. Love her haircut. And I'm on the same boat, jealous of your weather. We had a 65F degree weather and it sunk to 11F within a day. I'm glad you're enjoying your new freedom with your car. Looks like those views are definitely worth the extra gas!

  8. Gorgeous pictures! What a fun idea--I think people forget too easily what's often right in their own backyards.

Happy to see you're enjoying your time with P!
